Mindless killing!

I took this gruesome image at my favourite fishing spot on the island 2 days before I left for my three months SA trip. I fucking despise mindless killing of any creature especially when Pike are concerned. Unfortunately these arrogant.... and from what I can see disrespectful fisherman caught 4 decent pike then left them dumped on the bank with all their disgarded lure boxes. This happens a lot in Finland and its something very hard to understand about the mentality of some Fins in general. To me, this is just blatant mindless killing from either outsiders or locals trying to eradicate pike, purely because they think they affect the local perch stocks around the island. I mean how fucking uneducated & ignorant must you be to think that. I wouldn't mind if it was just one age group but I've seen pentioners do the same and leave their fishing areas in an absolute shithole. I mean if you take portable barbies, beer cans and food wrappers to your favourite fishing spot in your car, then why aren't you able to take it back from whense they came. Pure fucking lazyness and disrespect for other fisherman.....I say!

Very well said Simon! It’s unbelievable how ignorant people can be. Last year I met a guy who killed a 109 cm pike. When I asked him why, he said, first they eat the trout and second a pike this big doesn’t reproduce anymore! When I told him that a 109 cm pike can only be a female and at this size they reproduce most of all, he just looked at me as if I came from another planet. I can guarantee you that I had to restrain myself, otherwise I would have thrown him in the water.

This same crap happens here in the US, too. The "sexy" thing to fish for is bass and anything that isn't a bass is either food for the bass or must be controlled so they don't hurt the bass.

While musky fishing one time, a gentleman on the shore yelled, "Get anything?" To which I replied, "2 muskie!" His response was, "hope you kept them...I hate those things. They eat all the bass"

WHAT?! You freaking moron.
1. no they don't.
2. why would you want to catch a 3-5lb bass when you can catch a monster 50"+ musky?!

Some people don't get it, Simon. Seems to be a universal problem

I have also seen a lot of that and it makes me pissed of too,but I think/hope there is a new generation of fishermans that are more responsible and dislike seeing things like that happen.
Very sad too see the King of our Finnish waters life get such a miserable end :(
It also makes me mad to think that those scumbags probably are very proud of themself.

Most people don't seem to understand that while staying in nature, you are at guest.

There is not much room left for nature.. so if you can't respect it, stay out of it.

These fucking people don't understand nothing about respect, about life! I hate them, because I met this kind of animal...unfortunately also in my country, Italy. And not only for pike..Simon you have all my support...not rarely ,but often the human is an animal...no,I am wrong..often the human is the worst species in our planet!

I have encountered this almost everywhere where I have been hiking/ paddling/ angling/ walking in Finland, and it surprises and disgusts me time and again.

Ignorance and stupidity is universal. So is slobbery and sloth. I take a trash bag with me when I'm out fishing the beach or shorline. God only knows how many tons of trash I have picked up and carried out over the years. Whenever I see offenses like these happening, I'll take pics of the offenders or gather as much info about their boat or vehechle and post it on fishing and outdoor related sites just to shame them. Sad thing...most have no shame. It's so easy, if you take it in, take it out and on your way out pick some of the slob's litter too.
