My three hooks of choice at the mo. The top one being a Fulling mill 6/0 long shanked hook used only for poppers. The second one down is the Partridge ultimate predator 4/0 hook & The third is my all time favourite pike fly hook the Tiemco 600sp 3/0.
Partridge are now producing this Ultimate predator hook in a number of sizes but for an all round general pike hook the 4/0 is probably the largest size I would go for. Looking at it, it has similarities to the Aberdeen perfect but with a few millimeters chopped off the shank. Personally I would like to see the shank of this hook shortened around 12mm as I generally tie all my materials on an 8mm area but I suppose beggars cant be choosers. The best characteristic with this hook is that its super sharp.......as sharp as the Tiemco 600sp, and that' saying something!

Great recommendations and commentary Simon. Out of curiosity have you ever tried anything from Gamakatsu? I'm a fan of the Gamakatsu B10S.
Yeh Brett! If I can get hold of them... my other favourite the Gamakatsu SL 12 big game saltwater hook mate.
Hi Simon,
That Partridge Ultimate looks just like my favourite pike hook, Sakuma Manta (could possibly be manufactured by the same company). They're extremely sharp and the shape of the hook is almost perfect to get the best possible hooking ratio. One of the few hooks that has wide enough gape for the big and bulky pike flies.
But hey, let's hope that the spring comes early this year. There's plenty of ice but it is quite soft already, they say. Fingers crossed, lads!
Great post Simon and thanks for recommendations. I will definitely give a try to Tiemco 600sp.
If you come by Sasame Worm 0715 give them a try. I would like to know what you think about my favorite hook for pike flies.
This thought me something on what hook I'm going to use... Thanks for the reviews and tips you gave us here.
