Readers fish porn

This weeks pike porn comes by the way of regular visitor to PikeFFArticles Rowland Frasier, who hails from Reno Nevada in the USA. He writes that he has Barry Reynolds to thank for introducing him to Pike on the fly and has fished with him a couple of times in Alaska & Canada.

Anyway I’ve been conversing with Rowland regularly over the last month with regards to his pike on the fly travels and he’s been very kind to send me a CD with an array of images depicting not only his pike on the fly exploits, but also his trip to the Amazon as well as a large selection of his flies which he ties and sells. So over the next three days I’ll be running a feature about Rowland & what he has brought to the sport of pike on the fly.

Well start proceedings off with a set of images from his Pike on the fly Adventures in Canada & Alaska. Thanks for these Rowland, you’re a true gentleman and by the looks of it a living legend in my eyes.

Impressive Eh! and that's only a hand full I have. Tomorrow I'll feature his Flies which will literally blow you away.

Readers fish porn

Here's some more images of Rowland Frasier from his week in Manitoba this spring, which he says was rather slow by his standards. Anyway I'm real excited as Rowland will be coming out to Replot next Spring for 10 Days to fish the island as well as the Merikarvia river mouth.

Eastern Trophies - CK Musky tails

Around three yrs ago Rowland Frasier came out here to fish and brought with him a set of flies that he'd cut & tied using a product called "Micro fiber" which I was very impressed with once I'd seen them swimming. Anyway Here is a "New" product coming out of the States from Originator Chuck Kraft by "Eastern trophies fly fishing" called (Musky CK Baitfish tails, Musky Streamer tails & Musky curly tails) that have a lot of similarities to Paolo Pacchiarini's wiggle tails except they are made from a different material and around 6" inches long. They even go as far as to say that these tails will out last your hook!......mmm!, bold statement. Having fished with some tails I made from Rowland's micro fiber they certainly didn't out last the hook especially with the amount of fishing I get through. Saying that though, I can see a lot of thought has gone into their design by Chuck with regards to adding extra tag ends to the tails for strengthening purposes when attaching them to a hook and I think he is on to a winner here.

These are the Musky CK Baitfish tails  that come in a multitude of colours

These are the Musky CK Streamer tails that also come in a variety of colours.

These are the Musky Curly tails which are a little larger than Paolo's wiggle tails but I'm surprised that Chuck hasn't added some extra tag ends on these tails for extra strengthning. Past experience fishing with this style of tail is they never last that long due to the thinning of the tail near the hook bend. Anyway as I'm just getting started with my challenge I'm going to be allocating a day once a week for the spring season to test these tails to the max, and If they get a day like I had yesterday, and they last the pace and the hook they are tied onto, then I'll be over the moon. You'll be reading my over all thoughts on these new tails in the coming month. If your interested in giving these a bash then why not get hold of the boys at "Eastern Trophies fly fishing" and get yourself some to try out.

Esox custom flies

As you can see the old boy is no mug in front of a fly tying stand either. Every one of the pike from yesterdays post were caught on these flies especially the long tailed streamers. He says he’s always creating new flies and has 3 or 4 new ones that he’ll be testing this summer in Canada……One he says is really unique. I’ve heard murmurings through the grape vines that a new book on Pike flies is being penned as you read by well known Dutch Pike author & Fly-fisherman, and am sure you will see one or two of Rowland’s creations featured on its pages in the future.

He does sell his flies under “Esox custom Flies”, unfortunately he doesn’t have a website well not that I’ve been able to find, but I’m sure you can email him with an enquiry or an order once he gets back from New Zealand in a few weeks fly-fishing for trout.
