Fly Candy

Looking back on my season Chartreuse was one of the stand out colours for me here on the island. So I spent yesterday blending natural belly with chartreuse and black with chartreuse mirror image to produce this set of realistic baitfish patterns.

Unfortunately my primative lighting set up in my ramshackle studio doesn't give a true reflection of the blended colours as well as I would have liked. Still I'm more than happy with the flies. All are around 100mm - 120mm length all tied onto salvaged hooks from last season.

There is something about blending colours that I find quite rewarding, Sure it takes a lot of time but well worth the effort you put in.

I've set aside today to blend up some pink/white and grey variations for next season so stay tuned for further developments.

Simon-
I have a bathroom overhead light that uses a roughly 18 inch in diameter flourescent light bulb. I lay my flies inside the upside down bulb system to have a nice smooth lighting from all directions. I pulled the guts of the light out and mounted to a flat piece of wood.
