This is from a new set of Walleye/Zander/pike perch flies I've tied in a variety of colours for myself for this year. This is a plain Black/White pattern.
I 1st tied on to the back of the hook a decent clump of marabou hairline. I then spun a decent clump of black bucktail around the hook shaft for the collar.then added 2 grizzly microbarb saddle hackles then carried on adding more clumps of bucktail. 
Trimming the head was a bit tricky with the microbarbs there, but I'm more than happy with the end result
So I arrived back from Helsinki yesterday,pretty buggered I might add. A mix of late nights & a lack of sleep can be attributed to me being absent for a couple of days on here, and from Thursday I'll be in Stockholm for the Swedish fly fair so I'll be away for a few days towards the end of the week as well. Wow,I still cant believe the response myself & the Eumer stand received with regards to pike on the fly. I took 100 flies along and sold all 100 flies and came back with a couple of very nice orders as well. I tied in excess of 30 flies a day and gave away practically every fly I tied there too. Thanks to all that traveled long distances especially to come down to meet me. Thanks to all the new faces and friends I made. Thanks to Anti for Friday nights Liver down at the "Sea Horse".......it was the fucking bollocks me old son! Thanks to all for restoring my faith that pike on the fly has a healthy following here in Finland and lastly thanks for all that commented about PikeFFArticles.
The Eumer Stand at the end of the Day
This is the other squid pattern I tied up. Much the same at the first one with the white and grizzly microbarb saddles.I also added 2 strands of holographic Xmas tinsel down each flank. The main body is a combination of white and pink marabou hairline feathers. 
A super super light fly to chuck and it moves and breathes very similar to a squid. I'm chuffed with these two patterns at both the raccoon and marabou do the job nicely. I'll be at the Helsinki fishing fair from tomorrow so I'll try and post something from there when I get the chance. If any of you fins are going then stop by and say hi.

I was asked a few weeks back whether I could tie up a couple of squid patterns for a fishing charter service. Now there are a lot of stunning patterns out there tied by some talented fly tiers but most just seem too beautiful to use.Not only that but they look like they would take some time to constructing them.
I needed a pattern that was quick n nasty and above all cheapish to tie. This one is the 1st of the 2 patterns I've come up with & can be tied in ten minutes if you have all the materials at hand before you begin. I started by attaching several white and 2 grizzly microbarb saddles near the bend of the hook. Then stuck on two 15 mm cheapo rattle eyes also at the bend of the hook and bug-bonded them together.
Then I took a 20mm strip of white raccoon zonker and wrapped that around the hook and followed that with a 15mm strip of Olive raccoon zonker. Whip finished....jobs a good en!
