How not to do a video pike fly tutorial

I'm sorry but this has to be one of the shittest pike fly tutorials I have ever seen. I'm all for using all manner of materials on my tubes n hooks but this bloke literally takes the piss with regards to material waistage. I wouldn't mind but the whole construction of the fly is totally out of proportion. If your going to do something then do it properly, especially if people are going to use the tutorial to improve their own tying skills. This tutorial is putting out all the wrong messages...not only that but this bloke must be minted if he can waste materials like he has. Saying all that though the bugger probably catches pike with the flyso we shouldn't knock him...or should I?

And here's another from his collection 'The Bunny bug'.

  3. haha. Well it's ok to fish on such flies if you can't have any better but for fuck sake why would anyone make a video tutorial like this?
I'm pretty sure my little sister would make better fly with this materials, and she never tied any before. :D

  5. well, if You learn anything at all from the basics in fly-tying it is that you should build your flies up with several layers, both because u get much nicer looking flies, they last longer and they dont eat as much material that way.

but, if someone wants to whack a whole raccoon around a hook and then do whip-finish on it and call it a fly, go ahead!

Just don't blame anyone if u lose all materials after the first pike hits yer fly :D

    just my 2pp, Jani

  6. I don't know Si your being a little rough on the dude... If you look carefully in both videos around minute 7 he busts out some serious "finesse trimming". LOL yeah those should have been left on the editing floor... I hope new tyers are taken by these with all the great content out there.

  11. Let me say that I was able to track the last 2 comments left by a curtain Ip address in the states lindsay.... to the minute he arrived on my blog.arriving from somebody elses blog doesn't hide who the visitor is.. Looks like I'm gunna have to block both your IP addresses from here. I haven't visited either of your sites now for over 8 months yet every other day you visit and every now and then one of you leaves a snide comment about my flies or post. you were quick to reply to this comment I made, so you must have known about the other 2 comments left and were just waiting in the wing to see what I would write.
and you call me a tosser. Its true what they say about the pffa now, that its like the Laurel n Hardy show.

  13. We've all tied a fly like that on occasion. We generally don't post it as a tutorial video, we take a razor blade to it, take what we've learned from the experience and move on.
