Pike madame caught on fly and #5 fly rod from bellyboat. It was freezing outside and most lakes were frozen over with 1½cm ice. 9,7 kg & 102,5 cm on a homemade fly.
He says he got this pike by sheer luck on his #3 fly rod with a size 6 fluo yellow Dog Nobler and a 0,23 fluorocarbon tippet! Was done spawning early and very active like the other 3,2 kg pike he got a little earlier on, on the same gear, both without a single teeth mark in the leader :) A nice surprise when the perch hadn't arrived yet.
The fish was 6,0 kg and 93 cm.
Pike caught on his #8 fly rod - 5,5 kg and 91½ cm - was a double hook up while my mate had his 7,8 kg's fish on!
Realy noce Pike's guys!
ReplyDeleteJust can't wait for the predator season is open again and I can fly fish for pike again!
season starts at the last weekend of May.. so time to tie some streamers...
Tight lines, big pikes
Hey again and thanks ;) Yeah had a great year 2008 with lots of great pike mainly on the fly but also quite some in the fall in dead bait etc.
ReplyDeleteOur season opened here the 1st of may, but haven't really proven very good yet in the waters i've fished. I did get a very lean 6 kg fish on a new huge flatwing style fly on the premiere day. Nice to get one with size when its the only one the entire day :)
Fishing for pikey this week. Hopefully, I'll have some nice additions for ya.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great Pete.Tight lines mate.
